Review: Casa Kiwi, Mompiche, Ecuador

I chose Casa Kiwi as it had been recommended by Along Dusty Roads travel blog, in their guide to Mompiche. Here is what I got up to in Mompiche!

Breakfast:
– not included
+available to purchase
+ guest kitchen

Hot water: yes, though the water smelled horrible! Apparently it is the same across the whole town but it was so bad I brushed my teeth with mineral water!

Location: Perfectly located about 10 meters from the beach

Price: dorm beds were 6 dollars a night, and a private room was 15 dollars. As there were two of us, it wasn´t much more to pay 7.50 each and have the security of a private room.

Rooms: The private room had a fan and shelves. It was simple but fine!

Security:
The hostel is quite open but we had a key to our room so I was not worried about our stuff

Welcome: the staff were very friendly and the whole set up had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It is not a particularly social place, in the way that big party hostels are, but everyone using the guest kitchen was friendly!

Wifi: yes

Extras: a book exchange

lots of hammocks

and a restaurant.

Stars: **** I award Casa Kiwi 3/5 stars. It is simple and pleasant.

Address: Mompiche isn´t the type of place that has addresses. When you are on the main road leading into town, take the last left before you hit the sea front. You will see Casa Kiwi on your left after the coffee shop.

Tip: If there are two of you, you might find it a good deal to get private room rather than two dorm beds
