Review: Hosteria Izhcayluma, Vilcabamba, Ecuador

Izhcayluma is an ecolodge situated in Ecuador’s beautiful Valley of Longevity. They offer private rooms, private cabins and dormitories. Izhcayluma therefore suits all budgets and when I stayed, the guests included young families, couples of all ages and backpackers. The website states “the elegance of a resort priced for backpackers” and I could not agree more.

It is the perfect place to relax. The fantastic scenery, the hammocks outside each room, and the pool make this all too easy. I originally booked two nights at Izhcayluma but loved it so much that I kept adding more!

The accommodation and facilities

Bird watching lookout
Bird watching lookout
are dotted about accross the site, connected with little pathways

Izhcayluma is therefore very quiet, and you walk past bright flowers and lush plantlife every day.

+ extras such as eggs, cheese, hot chocolate, available to purchase at 1$ each

We got around the early finish time and the rather expensive price by buying food in Vilcabama village
